The Mwalimu Platform has been expanding since its creation in 2013. As of January 2018, the National Teachers College Resource (NTC-R) was initiated with the main objective of enabling content sharing among National Teachers Colleges in Uganda. NTC-R now joins its predecessor resources on Mwalimu Platform, namely: Secondary Education E-learning Tool (SEET) Teachers E-learning Platform (TEP).
In essence, NTC-R is designed for pre-service teachers while SEET and TEP support integration of ICT in teaching and learning by the in-service teachers. At a technical level, NTC-R is customized from SEET with emphasis on crowdsourced e-books content and sample examination with solutions shared by lecturers. To ensure quality of e-books, the content from the crowd is kept in transition space until approved or discarded/deleted by the relevant subject administrator. The approved content then becomes accessible to all users.
